You are invited to the outreach night!


Vision 
In Ontario's education system: All parents acknowledge the positive impact of parent engagement.

It is time to talk to your students, "Mad is not bad!"


Issue: Students are unsafe because of multiple anger issues, which can make students' learning, relationships, well-being, and other peers' mental health. How could it be overcome by cultivating social-emotional skills, and various coping skills, supportive minds?

Below video clip suggests ABCD's easy method to deal with an anger issue.

You can do it at home to address your child's anger issue and participate in an enjoyable outreach night!





Participants: Teachers, parents, staff, Psychologist


Date: Friday, Nov 30th, 2022


Preparation: Bring home food or snack

Goal: Anger issues can be resolved by various strategies from the resources like FNMI books, anger issue-related books, and articles, supportive minds, social-emotional skills
Venue: Grade5 Classroom
Agenda: How can parents deal with students' anger issues? 




Grade 5 Social-emotional skills can be cultivated through the outreach night program curriculum. You will discuss more anger issues in an enjoyable Jigsaw group.

This is for the discussio activity steps and instructions

What steps do parents and teachers follow in the activity instructions by the Psychologist?

-The Psychologist will be invited to help them discuss anger issues. Teachers and parents have a big circle and have different teams to teach each other the best strategy according to the below steps.

Step1) Let the group have a big FNMI Circle (Respect, Wisdom, Responsibility and Relationships) 
Step2) Choosing one resources from the bookself or research in a Jigsaw Group . And then they can teach another groups the best strategies to support students' angry minds.

Step3) Make a hand infographic using one FNMI wellness value
Step4) Making a presentation about sharing the work  
What to expect from parents and teachers: Masterpiece of production. 
This is an example of a hand infographic that teachers and parents can make.  

Respect: I can respect others, so I will not act on my angry feelings. I can calm down and take a deep breath. Honestly, I will talk to my parents, friends, teachers, and staff for their dignity. "I was angry because of this, and I need a break time. Can we talk later?"


Discuss more how cultivating social-emotional skills help address anger issue

1) Self-management: Deep breath / Time-out

2) Self-awareness: Keeping an emotional note

3) Responsible Decision-Making: Thinking about the result of immediate anger

4) Social awareness: Write down an empathy map

5) Relationship skills: Negotiating conflicts before the angry
